Entry tags:!application, !info, character: rhodri cadwallader, game: 6d

IN CHARACTER:

Full name: Rhodri Cadwallader
Nicknames: Cadiot, apparently. Rocky Rhod if you're Daphne. Otherwise, Rhod, Rhodri or Cadwallader are fine.
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Date of Birth: 27/1/1978
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Years at Hogwarts: Left in 1996
Blood Status: Pureblood
Played-By: So far I'm thinking James Marsdeb but I'm still not quite decided. =/

Suggested Journal Name:

History: The Cadwallader's were a reasonably well known Welsh pureblood family and although hardly blood elitists, there was always some pressure to keep the lineage pure. During Owen Cadwallader's Hogwarts years he was allowed to date whoever as the parents doubted that any of these relationships would be serious or lasting. Once graduated, however, although tolerated, the non pureblood girlfriends were not liked quite as much by Owen's parents. They started to 'casually' introduce Owen to more acceptable girlfriends, just as friends of course. They tried to not be obvious about setting him up, they wanted him to be happy and so they thought it was important that he at least though he chose the girl himself.

After many failed attempts, his parents finally found someone who Owen actually enjoyed spending time with. Unfortunately, both she and him were seeing other people at the time. This didn't bother Owen or Addison, who was the girl his parents had introduced him to, as for the time being they were content just being friends. The two became extremely close and slowly their feelings developed from friendship to something else. Yet they never seemed to be single at the same time. It wasn't until Owen was 31 and Addison 29 that they eventually started dating. They didn't date long before getting married, they knew each other so well that there was need for waiting.

Rhodri was born only 6 months after the wedding had taken place, on the 27th of January. As a child he was spoiled quite a bit by his parents and both sets of grandparents, especially his paternal grandparents who were so glad to have a pureblood grandson. His maternal grandparents didn't care about blood status nearly as much, not being purebloods for very many generations, and Rhodri often found himself enjoying time with those grandparents more, even if they didn't buy him as many toys.

Although he was used to getting what he wanted, when he wanted, Rhodri wasn't too demanding and could share reasonably well (reasonably being the operative word). One of the main reasons for this was the close relationship he  had with his younger cousin, Daphne Greengrass. It was, however, still a shock for him to learn that soon he would have a baby sibling and that he would have to share with him or her.

He was three by the time his sister, Morgan, was born and although the lack of attention on him was odd at first he grew to like it. With a sister around he had someone to blame things on ('it was her that drew on the wall, not me!' He would say. 'She even stole my new crayons to do it. I would never do such a howwible thing but don't get too mad, she's only young, she doesn't know it's wrong yet'). Sometimes, as they got older, they'd work together to get things they'd want (such as the cookies or icecream). Rhodri would mastermind the plan and carry it out and Morgan would get the blame but she'd just look all innocent and claim she hadn't meant to move the ice cream, it moved by magic. She couldn't help that she couldn't control her magic yet. All would be forgiven and forgotten by Owen and Addison and Rhodri and Morgan would have a nice feast. Plus having her around meant he had someone new to tease.

His closest friends for most of his childhood were his sister and cousin. he did have other friends but they were the people he saw the most often and therefore the ones he liked best. Not that he and his sister didn't have their disagreements, especially when Morgan learnt to talk. She talked way too much, happy to share every detail of her life with anyone who'd listen. It wasn't that she was self obsessed, she just enjoyed talking and was very open. This made Rhodri less talkative, as it became easier just to let Morgan talk.

Rhodri always knew he was bound for Hogwarts but was excited none the less to get his letter. Hogwarts was going to be fun! He'd get to make lots of new friends and learn magic. He was looking forward to it.

Arriving at Hogwarts, Rhodri was sorted into Hufflepuff where he met Isaiah Summerby, amongst others, who he soon became good friends with. Rhodri enjoyed his classes a little although he was never really over academic. It wasn't that he wasn't smart. he just didn't bother trying most of the time. He knew it was good to try when it counted, like for OWLs and NEWTs, but otherwise he would get by doing as little work as possible.

It wasn't until his 5th year that Rhodri decided to try out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. He'd enjoyed going to Quidditch games with his family and listening to it on the wireless but hadn't really played it much before. He spent his first year of Quidditch on the reserve team, rarely getting the chance to play but in his 6th year he was moved up to the first string team where he played Chaser for that year and the next, until he graduated.

Though he enjoyed Quidditch, becoming a professional Quidditch player was never something he wanted to be. Although he knew what he didn't want to be, he really didn't have a clue what he did want do, So for his first year out of school Rhodri travelled, living off his parents money, while trying to find something he might be interested in. When he returned he was still undecided but determined to try and earn a living without relying on his parents so much. He found a job at the Leaky Cauldron as a dishwasher where he remained until the war. It didn't pay very well so the attempt to become more independent from his parents didn't really work. He maintained it was the attempt that counted though and at least he was earning some money for himself.

Rhodri had heard about some of what was going on at school just before the war through letters from his sister so when war broke out he returned to his old school to help fight ad make sure his sister was safe. He can't say he really did anything big to help in the war effort but he is proud of the fact he did something and that apart from a few minor injuries he managed to keep his sister and himself safe (though, honestly, Morgan was probably more competent at DADA than him).

After the war, Rhodri decided it was time to find a proper job. One he actually might enjoy or at least one that paid a little better. He still wasn't sure what to be though. He spent some time thinking about what he enjoyed doing and apart from playing Quidditch, travelling and teasing people he couldn't really think of anything he'd enjoy doing almost everyday. Eventually he decided that something to do with travelling would be best for him and after toying with the idea of being a portkey clerk he came to the decision of being a travel agent at Terror Tours on Diagon Alley.

Currently he is still employed at Terror Tours and is living in a flat that bars all magical means of entrance after 9pm with Lolly and Johanna. His parents have tried to convince him to live somewhere less temperamental but Rhodri is trying hard to stick to his plans of tyring to support himself, although he will admit to still taking some of his parents money.

Personality: Rhodri is generally a friendly person. He enjoys socialising and meeting new people. Despite this, he is quite reserved when it comes to talking about himself. He blames his sister for this.Morgan was always happy to talk and talk and talk and talk. She had the habit of over sharing which often annoyed people. For this reason it can sometimes be difficult to pry personal information out of Rhodri. For example, if you ask him if he likes Quidditch he'll reply yes but won't tell you what team he supports (the Catapults), or what position he used to play at school (chaser) unless specifically asked. It's not that he has anything to hide, he just doesn't feel the need to share every single detail of his life.

Although reserved when it comes to talking about himself Rhodri can be extremely talkative. he could talk for hours about the travel agency, Quidditch, his latest fight with Lolly etcetera. Also, when with people he knows well he does share personal information a little more freely. Mostly because they already know but also because if they've bothered to get through the reserved exterior they're obviously more willing to hear about him and aren't just asking out of politeness.

One thing Rhodri is never reserved in is teasing. He'll tease and make fun of anyone, whether he knows them well or hardly at all. Thankfully, he's able to take being teased almost as well as he gives it. He enjoys a good banter so he's happy when people have good comebacks but he also loves seeing peoples reactions to his teasing so even if you don't have any comebacks he'll most likely continue to tease for a while.

Apart from this, Rhodri is generally a nice person and doesn't mean any harm from his teasing. It's just a hobby of his and anything he says while teasing shouldn't be taken seriously, he rarely means anything nasty that he might say. Also, if someone else makes fun of one of his friends he'll be one of the first to jump in a defend them. He;s allowed to tease people as much as he wants but he doesn't like it if other people say mean things to them.

One of his main flaws is the fact he's used to having money and buying whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Although he is working on this by trying to support himself, he still has the habit of buying something without realising he can't afford it and then using his parents money to pay it off. He hasn't quite got the concept of financial independence yet. Nor is he very good at cleaning up after himself. It's not that he purposely leaves his dirty clothes lying around (well, most of the time it's an accident anyway), it's just that before he moved out of home, someone always did it for him. He's slowly getting better at all of this but it is hard for him.

Basically, Rhodri's a bundle of contradictions; he's outgoing but reserved, loves to tease but is quick to defend and claims independence but is still dependant. He loves his family, both immediate and more distant and can be very protective of them. Generally, he's a pretty fun guy, even if he is prone to stealing chocolate milk, who enjoys having a good time.

Occupation: Travel Agent at Terror Tours.

What does your character value the most? Probably his family. They don't always get along, sometimes he finds his parents too controlling and his sister too talkative but he does love them and their safety is important to him.

What does your character regret? He doesn't really have any huge regrets as yet so at the moment his biggest regret is probably not paying enough attention in DADA because he would've liked to be able to help out with the war a little more.

What is your character proud of? Attempting independence. He's hoping that soon this will become 'being independent', not just attempting.

If you had to sum your character up into a stereotype, what would it be and why? The Teaser because that's what he loves to do and everyone is subject to it.

What do you believe your character will offer to the game?
Someone who is fun and likes to have a good time but will probably get on some peoples nerves sometimes. An annoying flatmate for Lolly and Johanna, a friend for Isaiah and a cousin for Daphne.

SAMPLES:

First Person:

You know, I never really got why people liked Ice Mice so much but after eating all the ones I could find in the flat I’m starting to see why people like them. Thanks for hiding them so Johanna couldn’t steal them before I got a chance to eat them, Lollipop. It’s much appreciated. More appreciated then ice cream stealing.

Apart from that, I haven’t done much today. Just lounged around and ate Ice Mice. It’s a pretty good life. Maybe I should just quit my job and do this for a living. My parents would love that. They’d probably even send over a few house elves to make it easier for me. Except I like my job. The weirdest people come in sometimes. Like that ancient lady with the gross teeth and multi coloured hair. I warned her that overseas she might get arrested for offensive hair. Neither she nor the boss found that funny. I ended up booking her a great trip though so I think she forgave me. She got a discount because too, just to make up for the ‘insult’. You’d think someone with hair like that would have a better sense of humour. Maybe she just has a really bad hairdresser instead.
