md_students Questions of the week
Question: Why were they sorted into the houses they were and where would they be if not?
All 3 Morags: Morag is a Ravenclaw because she loves doing her work. She's happy to sit and work or just read for hours. She prides herself on her good marks and would be upset if she didn't do as well as she expected on a test.
If not in Ravenclaw, Morag would probably be in Hufflepuff because of her dislike of conflicts and her loyalty to her friends.
Both Parvatis: Parvati is in Gryffindor because she will fight for what she believes in no matter what. For example when her parents said (or are going to say in MD because we're not up to it yet) that she and Padma shouldn't go back to school she argued and pushed her point of view until her parents let her and Padma return.
If not in Gryffindor then she'd probably be in Hufflepuff because she is a very friendly person.
Sophie: Sophie is a Hufflepuff because of her loyalty. Once you'd befriended her, which wasn't overly hard to do, Sophie would stick by you no matter what. She hates injustice and prejudice.
If not in Hufflepuff Sophie would've probably been in Ravenclaw. As a muggleborn she found the wizarding world very interesting and so tried very hard in all her subjects. This willingness to work is what could've placed her in Ravenclaw.
Bridgette: Bridgette was sorted into Slytherin because of her ideas about blood status. Her parents were both in Slytherin and she wouldn't have been able to stand it if she'd been in any other house because her parents had always told her about how great Slytherin was.
I can't see Bridgette in any other house. She's just too stuck up.
Both James': James was sorted into Gryffindor for many reasons. His bravery and the fact he never gives up are to examples of his Gryffindor traits. James would do anything for the people he loves even if it meant risking his own life. When he wants something he goes after it until he gets it (eg Lily). No amount of discouragement will sway him from his plan to get what he wants/
If not in Gryffindor then James probably would've been in Ravenclaw because he has brains. He could also be a Hufflepuff because of his loyalty to his friends.
All 3 Freds: Like the rest of his family, Fred is a Gryffindor. There's really no other house for a Weasley. He does things that get him in trouble without caring about the consequences. Whether this is bravery or stupidit is arguable but I think it's bravery (have you seen his mother when she's angry?)
There's not really any other house for Fred.
Harry: Harry was hard to sort. The hat thought he possesed Slytherin qualities but Harry refusedd to be sorted into Slyhterin because of the things he'd haerd about it. So the hat decided Gryffindor. Why? Because Harry's brave, he does things that no one else his age would dare to because he knows that it will benefit the world. He values his friends lives and tries very hard to protect them (I still don't think breaking up with Ginny had any positive effects but whatever).
The hat wanted to put him in Slytherin so I guess that's where he'd go otherwise.
I only did this one for my MD characters.
Question: How does your character's birth order (firstborn, middle, youngest, only, twin ;p) affect how they act - or does it?
Morags: Morag's another only child. She's more like the first born only child type than the youngest child. She's serious when it comes to her work and can be very goal-orientated. She loves getting great results in her work because she prides herself on her intellectual abilities.
Morag usually gets what she wants from her parents because they have no other children to dote on. Since she came to Hogwarts her parents have been even more willing to give her what she wants because they miss her not being at home most of the time. Morag tries not to act like a spoilt brat though and hopes she manages to succeed in this because boastful people often end up annoying her.
Vatis: Parvati is the youngest and a twin. She loves to party and she's outgoing. She loves talking to people even if she hardly knows them. How else are you going to make new friends? She doesn't really fit into the Twin stereotype though. She loves Padma but she's not dependent on her. Being in different houses they don't see each other in classes much so Parvati doesn't get lonely when not with Padma. However, if too long goes buy without her talking to Padma then she misses her heaps. The two of them are very close.
Freds: As the 4th/5th member of the Weasley family there was always going to be a need to be different so that attentio was paid to him but as a twin and one of the middleborns this attention was needed more. This is why both Fred and George are so loud and cause so much trouble. The twins are close and are both very confident, sometimes overly so. They're very close and spend a lot of time together. Fred has great social skills and is an entrepreneur.
Question: Does your character have a middle name? If so, what is it? Bonus points: why did you pick out the middle name you did, or if not, why did you choose not to give them a middle name?
Parvati Pari Patil I looked up a whole heap of Indian names, seeing which ones sounded best and what they meant. Eventually I decided on Pari because it keps her initials as 'PPP'. It means beauty or fairy so I think it suits her.
Morag Katrina MacDougal It's one of the names that Morag almost had instead of Morag (along with Isabel) so I thought I'd use it.
Fred Gideon Weasley Because of Fabian and Gideon. I've always imagined Fred as Fred Gideon and George as George Fabian then their initial are FGW and GFW and it just seems twinnish to have backward initials.
And then I got really slack and stopped doing questions for a while...
Question: What is your character's favourite food?
Parvati: Hmmm... Parvati LOVES curries, especially the ones her mum makes. She also loves nann bread especially cheese nann but that's really fatty so she can't eat much of that. Her favourite curry would have to be Rhogan Josh or lentil curry. There's also this really nice potato thing that her mum makes but that Parvati can never remember the name of. All Indian food's good though (It's my favourite type of food, actually) and she can't pick one favourite.
Question: What is your character's hometown? What made you pick where your character was from?
Fred: Fred lives in Ottery St, Catchpole because it's canon. Simple. =)
Morag: For lj-comm="epilogs"> I asid Morag lives in Hampshire so I'll stick with that. I don't remember why I chose it but I think it had something to do with it being on the coast. It also has higher than average sunshine so that could fit with the meaning of Morag's name (embracer of the sun). Yeah, I'm just making this up now.
Parvati: I chose Sussex for Parvati, again I have no idea why. I'm really not at all familiar with England since I haven't been there since I was about 6 or something so yeah. Apparently the people in Sussex are strong willed which Parvati can be at times. It's also a very hot palce which could have helped her parents choose this location as they were used to hot weather in India. Again, it was just me randomly picking a town.
No question this week, just >Love!
Question:What made you choose the particular cartoon OOC PB you did for your character? Yes, shallow answers do count.
Parvati: Dingo and I were trying to decide on someone to be the cartoon PB for both Padma and Vati and we were thinking maybe Esmerelda and someone else who I can't remember at the moment. We both liked Chel though so we deided to use her.
Morag: Not only does Betty look pretty much like Mo (except Betty has blue eyes), she sort of simialr personality wise too. Betty's smart and tries to do well at school and she's pretty much your normal 'girl-next-door' type person. So yeah, she just fitted. Plus, I've always loved the Archies.
Fred: For Fred I was looking for someone with red/orange hair but I couldn't think of anyone but Archie which I thought would've been weird since Mo's Betty and Betty and Archie are kind of together (when he's not with other girls XPP). Then, I think I was watching the aristocats or listening to the song Thomas O'Malley Cat, I can't remember which and I was like Thomas is a ginger cat! Plus he's a carefree kind of cat that just goes where lofe takes hima nd doesn't complain too much and he's poor (well, compared to Dutchess) so it just suited him. And the Aristocats is an awesome movie.
