Name: Parvati Patil Age: 18 Birthday: March 18 Bloodline: Half-blood Sexuality: heterosexual Family and background: (Tell us about your character's life.) Parvati and her twin sister Padma were born on March 18, 1979. Parvati was the second born of the twins. Their parents, Lona Patil (mother) and Sheil Patil (father) were very proud of their two newest additions to the family. At that time they had one older sister, Sahana, who's 7 years older than the twins, and their brother, Nalin, who is 3 years older. Sheil and Lona had both attended Hogwarts. Once they graduated, they started dating and eventually got married and moved back to India. They spent the first three years of the twins lives living there but moved to Sussex, England a few months before the girls 4th birthday. They grew up there in, in a house near the sea, until Padma and Parvati received their Hogwarts letters and attended the school themselves. Parvati had known she was a witch since the say she could understand what a witch was. Both Sahana and Nalin had attended Hogwarts, being in Hufflepuff and Ravebclaw, respectively. Parvati had heard many stories about how great Hogwarts was and was looking forward to attending the school.
Parvati spent the train ride to Hogwarts with Padma and was glad to have her sister there with her. She was starting to have doubts about it. Would she make enough friends? Would she do alright in her work? What house would she be in? Would there be any mummies? She'd been told there were lots of magical creatures there. But as the train pulled up to Hogsmeade station, all her doubts vanished. It was amazing! She couldn't wait to get started! Her good mood was dampened slightly when her sister was sorted nito a different house than her. Sure, her and Padma were different people and had different interests and hobbies, her sister was still her best friend at this stage and her support. If Parvati was ever upset or worried about something, Padma was always there for her. But sitting down at the Gryffindor table, Parvati became fast friends with Lavender Brown and the two have been best friends ever since.
Parvati's other close friends were Dean and Seamus and although she didn't see Padma much, she still counted her as one of her best friends. They were twins after all. Parvati never really got along with Hermione, the other girl in their house. She didn't share hers and Lavenders love for gossiping, make up and fashion. She attended the 4th year Yule Ball with Harry Potter, something she never wants to repeat. Harry may be famous and not bad looking, but he can't really dance and he just sat around with Ron all evening.
During her fifth year, Parvati and her sister joined Dumbledores Army. Then, in her six year, she tried to convince Lavender not to go out with Ron, even if he was quite fit, as he, according to Padma, was boring. Lavender didn't listen and began spending more time with Ron than with Parvati. Parvati soon became jealous and was extremely glad when her and Ron eventually broke up. During the Lav-Lav/Won-Won period, Parvati actually became sort-of friends with Hermione. Without Lavender around Parvati cuold actually be quite sensible, but as soon as Lavender was back to her normal, single self, Parvati resumed her giggling, gossipy ways and returned to not being Hermione's friend. Later in this year, Lona and Sheil wanted to pull the girls out of Hogwarts but Parvati convinced her parents to let her stay.
Parvati is looking forward to her 7th year, thinking it'll be the best year yet! The war worries her a bit but she's more worried about the condition of her hair or nails at this opint in time. House at Hogwarts: Gryffindor Year at Hogwarts: 7th Prefect?: No. Quidditch Team? No! She might break a nail or somethng. She'll be there to cheer the team on though. Classes they're going to be taking? Arithmancy, Astronomy, Divination, Transfiguartion and DADA Appearance: Parvati, being Indian, has long, black hair, which she prides and takes very good care of, dark brown eyes and light brown skin. She is 5'64 feet. She often rounds this up to 'almost 5'7' though, as it makes her sound taller and it's easier to say. She's quite thin and her face is often made up, with make up. She uses many beauty spells to keep her hair knot free and shiny and her legs smooth and hairless, her face blemish free and many other things. PB: Parminder Nagra Personality: Vain, gossipy, airhead amd beauty queen are words that people who don't know her very well could use to describe Parvati. Some of these traits are true, others not so true. Parvati is vain. She loves admirering herself in the mirror and makes sure she always looks her best. She loves to gossp and giggle, especially with Lavender, but her gossip isn't malicious. Parvati certainly isn't an airhead, although she may act like she is at times. Like her sister, she is quite smart, she just spends more time gossiping, day dreaming and making herself up than she does on her scool work. When she tries, however, she can get quite good marks in all her subjects. Parvati is a beauty queen. She loves make up, pretty clothes and looking nice. Her appearance and her social life comes before her school life and because of this, some people think she isn't smart.
Parvati's friends and family are very important to her. She's not the tpe to bitch about her friends behind her back. Because her firneds are so important to her, she gets jealous or feels betrayed easily if her friends say anything bad about her or desert her. Hey loyalty is probably why she was sorted into Gryffindor. She's not really that brave, but can usually keep cool in tough situations, unless the situation involves her make up getting ruined or similar. Her favourite subjects is Divinatation and Astronomy. She believes in fate, love at first sight and anything to do with divination and astrology. because of this she is quite superstitious. Parvati quite enjoyed CoMC, until Hagrid took over. Parvati has a couple of bad habits, one being playing with her hair or nails when bored or nervous and the other biting her lips for the same reasons. She also daydreams a lot and has a short concentration span when it comes to things other than beauty, gossip and divination. Parvati loves flirting, shopping, gossiping, partying, makeovers and having a good time.
Plans: Parvati aims to do well in her school work, especially divination, keep up to date with all the gossip, no matter how small or big and stay loyal and true to her friends. She also wants to survive the war and come out on the other side looking as beautiful and unscathed as always.
Sample Journal entry: Hee! Mother sent me some more make up! Lavender, we have to try it! It's so pretty and sparkly! There's some really nice lipstick and nail polish that's charmed to match whatever you're wearing! Amazing, huh?
Meet you in the girls dorms to try it and to work on our divination homework? Please? I also have some great gossip to tell you...
Sample Role Play: Parvati felt out of place. She very rarely spent time in the library and she kept on getting scary looks from Madame Pince everytime she said something. Not that she really had much to say. Or anyone to say it to.
Why was Parvati in the library? She had homework, of course! Lots of it, at that. the common room had been too noisy to work and there had been way to many distracions in the dorms, such as mirrors and make up, so she'd decided to take her sisters advice and try the library for once.
So there she was, sitting in the library, book open in front of her, quill in hand and a strand of hair around her finger. Yes, she was bored. Bored and behind in homework. She wasn't usually this behind but time had slipped away from her this week, and now she had little time to do a lot of work. Unfortunately, the library was almost as distractin as the common room or dorms, but for different reasons. The library was distracting because it was quiet. This meant it was easier to slip off into a day dream and forget all about her work.
With a sigh, Parvati shut the book that was in front of her and packed away her stuff. It looked like she'd have to find another place to work.
