Day Fourteen: Tell us about a character relationship that surprised you.

Friendship wise:
  • Sylvie and Mo! They were friends as MW but it wasn't until MD that they became best friends and it was unplanned, somehow their friendship just became best frienship. And it works because they're so different that they balance each other out. Or something. idk. Plus they're the best party planners ever, obviously.
  • Edgar and Sophia! Because neither have all that many friends (sure, Sophia talks to lots of people but most of them aren't really like proper friends who she trusts/spends time with) and they just get along well and I like their friendship.
  • Blaise and Mo! Because he finds being mean to people fun whereas Mo likes being nice to people and yet they got on well most of the time and that wasn't expected.
  • Michael and Brooke! Because Brooke doesn't like that many people but apparently being a funny drunk is enough reason to be friends with someone? idk, I don't get Brooke. But I never expected her and Michael to get on that well.

    Ship Wise:
  • David and Bex! He was very for rules and anti drama and people who caused drama and she enjoyed causing drama and breaking rules for the sake of it. I didn't even expect them to get on as friends, let alone start dating.
  • Sophia and Sam! Just because it was unexpected! idk, I don't really have any explanation for this. It kind of just happened suddenly and that was surprising.

Day Thirteen: Tell us about a character who surprised you.

Lots of characters have surprised me in lots of different ways! That's part of what makes characters so fun to play. But, for specific examples, I'm going to use both my BNW characters.

Evie surprised me in how easy and fun she was to play. I applied for her and Brooke at the same time and Brooke's app was so much easier to write and came to me much quicker. But then when I started playing, Evie was so loud and easy to play and that was so great because sometimes it can take a while to get used to new characters. She also surprised me with how pro-muggle she was. She was actually kind of antipureblood and that was interesting. Like she was just mean to anyone who was anti muggle immedietly and without being provoked, despite the fact she was otherwise REALLY friendly. She also surprised me with her reactions to Naoko's secret journal leaking. She was really insulted but as soon as Naoko apologised, she was over it and it made me realise how forgiving and quick to get over things she was. Also, she suddenly got on with Higgs in that entry and that was surprising. Anyway, I could talk about Evie forever so I'll stop now.

I talked about Brooke surprising me here. Her ability to be a good friend also surprised me. She may not actually like or talk to many people, but if you do manage to befriend her she is such a good friend and I didn't expect that. Also, her reaction to blood and stuff surprses me. I wrote into her profile that she was squirmish and couldn't deal with blood, but she actually feels sick if it's even just talked about. Even at games that don't involve her, like when Sam said halloween costumes were meant to be bloody and gory at TS she was disguisted and that's weird for me because blood has never bothered me so it's weird to experience that reaction.

The weather forcast was right for once and it is snowing! On and off and it's not really landing because it's too windy but it's really pretty to watch out my window and it's also fun to go out and stand in it even if I'm kinda freezing now.

Day Twelve: Tell us about a hobby or occupation one of your characters has that you would be interested in pursuing.

There are SO many! Evie and scriptwriting would be the main one, because that is what I would really love to do! And I think Evie was like the only character of mine to ever get involved in plays and musicals, which is strange because I love being in them but apparently don't play characters that do. Whenever I watch Gruen Transfer, I think advertising (like Brooke does) would be super interesting. Sophia makes me miss playing hockey. I think it would be great to TRY quidditch if it existed. Travel planning would be great! I had fun planning Rhodri's trip and I have fun planning my own trips so travel agent would be cool. Travel photorapher would be amazing! I really love travel so getting paid to do it would be so great!

I know this isn't part of the question, but occupations my characters have that I wouldn't want to do include Jago's job (mainly because his co workers are crazy and I'm not as patient as him), history teacher like Ruby (which I realised AFTER I chose that for her, is what like 90% of my uni friends are studying. So I hear about it a lot!) and primary school teacher like Mo.

The weather's crazy atm! We had like a 6 hour blackout, it's expected to snow tomorrow, we could get 4 inches of rain tonight, the wind is crazy, there's going to be flooding and all sorts of stuff. Apparently it's got something to do with something from the north mixing with something from the south and causing all kinds of havoc. idk. My guitar teacher was telling me all about it and showed me this program he downloaded that had all the local weather measurements on it, changing constantly. Which was interesting and all but all I could think of was that Albus would find this interesting. Anyway! I hope it snows!!

Day Eleven: Tell us about something you learned about from someone else's character or a game plot

There's probably a MILLION things. But I can't think of ANY examples. I've been trying to since other people got up to this and I realised I couldn't think of anything. I have a terrible memory! But I'm sure the stuff I learnt was interesting, despite me not remembering any of it.

I haven't done this for a few days! But anyway.

Day Ten: Tell us about something you learned about or researched for a character.

More often than not I use my general knowledge for things (although I often check I am correct first!) and my research is usually just done on Wikipedia. But things I do look up is general information about places my characters live in (like Bolton for Evie and Hampshire for Mo and Grays (which I wanted to use because I knew that was where Russell Brand was from) for Ruby). I also looked up the Queen's Counsel when I was writing up Sophia and then did lots of reading about secret societies for her research for the paper. Because that was really interesting! Usually I forget what I learn though, which is a shame!

Day Nine: What comes first, the PB or the character?

I've done it both ways! It depends. Sometimes I have a character personality in mind and then pick a PB to suit that, other times I want to use a PB so I write a character for the PB but mostly I look for PBs at the same time as writing the character (if that makes sense?). Othertimes I have characters for ages before I even chose a PB because I'm terrible at picking PBs! And sometimes I change how a character will be because of a PB! This happened with Mo because she really wasn't meant to be nice but then I decided I wanted to use Kate Todd and I didn't want to make Kate Todd a bitch so Mo ended up nice and I can't imagine her any other way!

Day Eight: Post favorite YouTube videos involving your PBs

    Current PBs

I don't have any for my TS characters! There's very little of Zoe Kimball except for just photo slideshows and a few weird videos of her and her friends. Jack O'Connell I haven't watched videos of but I assume most of them would be from Skins and I haven't watched season 3 or 4 yet and even thought I know what happens, I don't want to look up videos.

I just looked up Sarah Ruba then and this is actually a pretty cute ad. And then there's not much else except for this which I also think is pretty cute! There's not really any Sara Paxton videos I like either! Again, they're mostly just photo slideshows or interviews or her music videos.

This is probably the best Jane Aldridge video. Again, there's not much. My current PBs suck for youtube videos.

Demi Lovato! I like the music video for La La Land. Mainly because all the Sonny with a Chance characters are in it which I think is cool! Also I do like the song. It's catchy! Also this! And pretty much anything else from Sonny with a Chance, especially Chad/Sonny bits!

Jono Namara is amusing in this. Anything from St Trinian's for Gemma Arterton because I love that movie. And she's adorable in all her interviews too. With Jonathan Ross because he's funny.

Day Six: Tell us about a character you're excited about but haven't had a chance to play or develop yet.

There aren't really any I haven't gotten a chance to play yet. I am looking forward to doing more with my characters at [info]worthyexcuse though because I think there's going to be a really fun dynamic then. Also it's going to be interesting playing younger version of Darcy and Merton at [info]likeits1997 . Not super famous Merton is different and not as unfriendly as older Mert so that is also interesting and it'll be interesting to see how he changes.

And I have a new mouse that WORKS now which is nice.

Day Five: Tell us about a character you wish you still played.

This is in both alphabetical order and order that I miss the characters wish is pretty cool!

Evie Anderson: I still have her at bnf but it's not the same because she's older and slightly more subdued (she sometimes uses full stops instead of exclamation marks!) and she's not Demi Lovato (although I do think Sarah Ruba works well for older her) and I just miss her! She's one of the easiest characters I've ever played, I could always think of something for her to update of and her reactions to things came easily and she was just a lot of fun. People that enthusiastic in life really annoy me, but I think that's because with them (at least, the ones I know) it seemed really fake whereas Evie genuinely was that excited about EVERYTHING. I also miss randomly capsing words and putting exclamation marks everywhere, although I do now do that more when I'm chatting with friends online. Anyway, Evie was a favourite of mine and I miss her!

Fred Weasley: In contrast to Evie, I don't find Fred easy to play. I always worry about whether what he's doing seems canon and whether he;s funny enough and everything but I still love Fred. He was the first character I picked up when I started Journal roleplaying and then playing him again at 91 was great! I loved the log where he made Lavender fly around the room and I loved his conversations with Meaghan where he made up family members and stuff. He's just a character that you can do so much fun stuff with and it would be fun to still play him.

James Potter: I go through long periods of thinking I don't even have my James muse anymore and then short periods of missing playing him. Currently I'm in the missing him stage which is why he's on this list. Like Fred, he's a challange because of the canon thing but at the same time I think there's more flexibility with James because he's in the books less. Also like Fred, he's the sort of character you can do sort of crazy stuff with but what I really love about him is his relationships with people, especially the marauders and Lily. Friendships are really great to play out and James has such close, interesting, fun friends.

Also sometimes I miss playing Parvati but that's more in a 'Parvati was really fun to play' way than a 'I want to play Parvati again' one.

Day Four: Tell us about a character you almost didn't pick up

Um. I actually don't think there are any! Maybe Evie? I don't really remember, but I was picking between a few characters on the BNW cast list. Brooke was the first one I got a muse for but then I decided to hold Evie as well. It's not a very interesting story! But I am very glad I did pick up Evie, she's on of my favourite characters that I've ever played, she was just a lot of fun and Demi Lovato was a great PB for her.

Day Three: What are the inspirations for your characters' usernames?

I am terrible at journal naming! It's something I hate doing because I know there are so many clever usernames out there and I can never think of any!

    Often I just use the characters name ( [info]darcybrianna , [info]mert , [info]brooke_p , [info]llew etc. etc.) or a variation on their name ([info]beckons , [info]blaking) or traits ([info]benignant, [info]verbosely, [info]assiduously)

I liked [info]dramatised for Evie because she was obsessed with drama. I think it was only available because I spell it with an s. Yay Australian spelling! My other Evie journal [info]asgoodastv comes from the song P.S by Jenny Owen Youngs which starts "I can't make real life as good as television".

[info]cadiot/[info]evilplan were both good Rhodri journals. Cadiot because his last name is Cadwallader and he's an idiot, evil plan because he's the evil plan to Lolly's evil mastermind.

[info]beeline is for Duncan Inglebee. I figured there were lots of saying about bees and I should use one of them. And then there were only things like bee in you bonnet so he ended up with beeline.

[info]off_the_cuffe is from off the cuff but for a Cuffe. I quite liked this one!

[info]unblairable I stole from the Gossip Girl episode "the unblairable lightness of being". I have [info]thefairyqueen for a character called Titania, who's named after the Shakespeare character, and [info]greeneggsandham for Lewis Robins because he's a Robins.

Mostly they're just boring though and I use whatever I can think of.

Day Two: How do other RPers inspire you?

By having really interesting characters who I enjoy reading, even if I don't always interact with them. Reading an enjoyable scene or comments between characters is really great. Also by being there to play with and bounce ideas off.

    Day One )

I am now on semester break for a week! Yay!!! Except my mouse keeps not working which is really annoying because I hate the touch pad mouse thing. :(
